Dear Esteemed Foreign Correspondent Member,
The Gujarat International Finance Tec – City (GIFT City) is India’s First International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) and operational smart city.
In the recent Union Budget, Government of India announced two important announcements related to GIFT IFSC: setting up a unified regulator for GIFT IFSC and exempt transfer of derivatives and certain securities by non-residents from capital gains tax. Non-corporate taxpayers operating in IFSC shall be charged Alternate Minimum Tax (AMT) at concessional rate of 9 per cent at par with Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT) applicable for corporates.
This will help GIFT IFSC to compete on equal footing with global financial centres and bring back business worth billions of dollars annually that India has been losing to global financial hubs across the world.
GIFT City has been included in Government of India’s Smart City Mission Statement and Guidelines as Model City in Greenfield category for development of 100 Smart Cities in India.
GIFT City offers worldclass infrastructure like Underground Utility Tunnel, Automatic Waste Collection System, District Cooling System, Potable water from any Tap throughout the City. Some of these are being implemented for the first time in India.
With this background, GIFT City is organizing a select media briefing at The Foreign Correspondents’ Club on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.
Registration from 6 pm and event will begin at 6-30 pm.
Mr. Ajay Pandey, MD & Group CEO, GIFT City, will share updates. He will be accompanied by his senior colleagues Mr. Sunil Joshi, President – Business Operations, and Mr. Dipesh Shah, who heads the IFSC business.
You are cordially invited.
