A LOW-COST SOLUTION TO INDOOR AIR POLLUTION*Patrick Robertson: Paddy grew up in a small rural village in Wales, has a master's in aerospace engineering from Bristol, UK. After graduating, he went on to launch several social start-ups, before moving to China in 2015 with an aim of solving some of China's big environmental and social challenges. He has been running Smart Air---a social enterprise dedicated to combating air pollution---for the past three years. He uses his expertise in aerodynamics to design new, simple and effective air purifiers, and his experience of the global landscape to increase air pollution awareness in countries across Asia. As an environmentalist, Paddy spends much of his time working on sustainability projects and speaking at environmental forums, as well as routinely participating in forums to promote social innovation and responsible business in China, Philippines and India.

Smart Air is a social enterprise that promotes DIY air filters as a low-cost solution to indoor particulate air pollution. Smart Air provides open-source test data and hosts workshops across Asia to teach people how to protect themselves from air pollution.
Since 2013, Smart Air has already held more than 330 workshops in over 330 cities in over 25 countries across Asia. Smart Air's simple solution has been covered in both traditional media and new media, including BBC, Forbes, ABC (Australia) News, El Confidencial, CNN, Phoenix, Global Times, NDTV, etc. and covered by BBC Horizons when their reporter attended a workshop, recorded the DIY process and developed an episod about Pollution Solutions.
Founded in 2013. Introduction Video: https://v.qq.com/x/page/g0727o4vqrj.html. Website: https://smartairfilters.com Mission: Help people protect themselves from the harms of air pollution through education and cost-effective purifiers, and create transparency and fairness in the air purifier industry.
DIY Air Purifier Concept: Almost every air purifier works in the same way: they use a fan to blow air through a HEPA filter, which removes over 99% of harmful PM 2.5, from the air. It's so simple, every one should know that getting clean air doesn't need to be expensive. Smart Air pioneered the 're-innovation' of air purifiers over three years ago, and have dedicated this time to teaching people across India how they can make their own simple, effective air purifiers.
